Founder / Senior Pastor Brian Smith and his wife, Pastor and Women's & Children's Ministry Director, Rachel Smith.
Senior Pastor and Founder Brian Smith launched the First Heavy Metal Church of Christ on Sunday June 19th 2011 at the Union, Ohio VFW. On that amazing day, approximately 70 people showed up for service consisting mostly of the fans of his secular biker band Saint Hellion. 5 people came to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior that day as well as 15 others who re-dedicated their lives to Christ and the FHMCC was born! Pastor Brian simply obeyed God by providing a church for all the people out there who would never step foot into a traditional church building.
Little did he know on that fateful day, that it was only the beginning.
The FHMCC has grown from a small group of followers into a large Community Church of hundreds, with weekly outreach and ministry programs servicing the entire Northridge and Dayton areas. Online, they have developed a worldwide followership. The Church has been featured on The Today Show, numerous local Dayton news shows, and featured in VICE Magazine. In just 7 years the church has baptized over 800 people in the river off of Rip Rap Road.
From the VFW, to a biker bar called Jackass Flats, to a retired elementary school building, and now a high school auditorium, God has always provided a place for worship and prayer no matter the circumstances and obstacles set in the Church's way. We don’t know where God is taking us but we continue to move FULL SPEED AHEAD in Jesus’ Name!!!
